Ashtanga Flow

Ashtanga Yoga is a dynamic and powerful set sequence of postures. Ashtanga is a physically demanding style of yoga that involves a sequence of intermediate and advanced poses performed in a specific order, with an emphasis on breath and flow between movements. This class is a shortened version of the Primary Series that is in a warmed room at 85 degrees and begins with the opening prayer. Regular attendance to this class will allow each participant to notice improvement in the practice. This class is warmed to 85 degrees and is geared towards intermediate and advanced yoga practitioners.

Sivananda Yoga

Sivananda yoga is a type of yoga that is based on the teachings of Swami Sivananda. This style of yoga has its roots in Hatha yoga and a strong focus on the health and physical well-being of the yogi. It involves regular periods of relaxation and yogic breathing techniques, or pranayama. The class is designed to balance the pranic body as well as the physical one. Sivananda asana practice relies on a core sequence that includes a balanced set of 12 postures followed in a prescribed order, interspersed with periodic relaxation poses. Each asana either augments or counterbalances the preceding one. Consistency in the sequence allows the student to systematically increase their abilities and see their progress. This sequence is especially good for increasing flexibility in all areas of the body, particularly the spine. It is appropriate for all levels and leaves the body feeling energized and balanced.

Yin Yoga

Yin Yoga is a passive, transformative style of Hatha yoga that asks participants to hold postures (about 3-7 min). This longer hold of poses is done to lengthen, and provide therapeutic release to joints, muscles, ligaments, fascia, and other connective tissues. Less active than other types of yoga, Yin is mainly done lying down on your mat. The main purpose of Yin Yoga is to provide grounding. As you tune out the daily grind and focus on slowing down and listening to your body, you will learn to surrender your mind and body to your practice. Yin is great for people of all backgrounds and levels. Join for Candlelight Yin Yoga on Sundays at 6pm.
